L’ISTITUTO ITALO AMERICANO CALANDRA PRESENTA UFFICIALMENTE LA CASA EDITRICE IDEA PUBLICATIONS.

Nella sede dell’Istituto Italo Americano Calandra del Queens College di New York, il Rettore Anthony Julian Tamburri ha presentato ufficialmente, nell’arco delle celebrazioni del retaggio italiano, la casa editrice Idea Publications di Brooklyn. Nata con le premesse di servire una fetta di pubblico finora ignorata o trascurata sia dall’editoria di larga distribuzione sia da quell’elite editoriale che mira alla comunità italoamericana, Idea Publications ha desiderato creare le premesse, secondo il Direttore Editoriale Silvana Mangione, per una “informazione di ritorno”. Alla pubblicazione di autori italoamericani in traduzione, distribuiti sia in Italia sia nelle università americane, e di autori italiani in traduzione, Idea Publications ha aggiunto recentemente la pubblicazione di autori italoamericani in lingua inglese con lo scopo di far conoscere questi meritevoli scrittori alla collettività americana.

La dottoressa Mangione ha comunicato l’intenzione della novella casa editrice di porsi in una posizione di privilegio, sia di vendita sia di qualità, nel campo dell’editoria italiana in America ed ha approfittato dell’occasione per presentare quattro degli autori recentemente pubblicati da Idea Publications. Con un’interessante introduzione, nella quale Mangione ha offerto vivaci immagini degli scrittori e dei loro libri, il direttore editoriale ha presentato il Professor Emerito Fred Gardaphè, autore del volume “Importato Dall’Italia”, il Direttore Editoriale della rivista trimestrale L’Idea, Tiziano Thomas Dossena, co-autore, con il Direttore Responsabile della medesima rivista Leonardo Campanile, del volume Doña Flor, An opera by Niccolò van Westerhout, e la nota scrittrice Elizabeth Vallone, presente alla serata con la sua ultima opera, Barbarossa’s Princess .

Ai commenti degli autori si è aggiunto il dottor Tamburri, che ha anche posto interessanti domande agli stessi. La serata è stata ripresa dai tecnici dell’Istituto e la registrazione sarà presto disponibile al pubblico sul canale televisivo e Internet dell’Istituto Calandra.

CALANDRA ITALIAN AMERICAN INSTITUTE OFFICIALLY PRESENTS IDEA PUBLICATIONS.

In the charming setting of Queens College’s Calandra Italian American Institute in New York, the Dean Anthony Julian Tamburri officially presented, in the occasion of the Italian Heritage celebrations, Brooklyn’s cutting-edge publishers, Idea Publications. Founded on the premise of serving a share of the public so far ignored or neglected both by the editorial elite and the large publishers who aim their books at the Italian-American community, Idea Publications wanted to set the scene, according to the Editorial Director Silvana Mangione, of  “informazione di ritorno”, that is of bringing back to Italy the information about the Italians in America. To the publication of Italian-American authors in translation, available in Italy but also distributed to the American public, and of Italian authors in translation, Idea Publications has recently added Italian-American authors published in English in order to introduce these deserving writers to a large audience.

Dr. Mangione has announced the intention of this state-of-the-art publisher to gain and retain a position of privilege, both in sales and quality, in the arena of Italian editors in America and took the opportunity to present four of the authors recently published by Idea Publications.

With an interesting introduction, in which she offered vivid images writers and their books, the editorial director Mangione presented CUNY’s Professor Emeritus Fred Gardaphè, author of “Importato dall’ Italia”, the editorial director of the quarterly magazine L’Idea , Tiziano Thomas Dossena, co-author, with the Editor-in-Chief of the same magazine Leonardo Campanile, of the volume “Doña Flor, An opera by Niccolò van Westerhout”, and the well-known writer Elizabeth Vallone, who attended the evening with her latest creation, “Barbarossa’s Princess”.

Dr. Tamburri, who added his comments to the authors’ presentations, also asked them interesting and challenging questions. The event was filmed by the Institute’s technicians and the taping will soon be available to the public on Calandra Institute’s television and Internet channels.
